   The event titled “Celebrating India-Japan Partnership: Focus- Leather Industry” was organized by the Embassy of India, Tokyo on 17th October 2024. The event aimed to explore opportunities for strengthening India-Japan collaboration in the leather industry.
 
2. Mr. R. Madhu Sudan, Deputy Chief of Mission, in his inaugural remarks emphasized the historical and strategic partnership between India and Japan, and outlined how India’s leather industry contributes significantly to the country’s economy and holds potential for further growth through collaboration with Japan. These introductory remarks set the tone for the day’s discussions by highlighting the significance of leveraging trade ties to benefit both nations.
 
3. Mr. R. Selvam, Executive Director of the Council for Leather Exports (CLE), delivered detailed presentation focusing on the opportunities for collaboration between India and Japan in the leather industry. He covered India’s position as a global leader in leather production and exports, with India being one of the largest suppliers of leather goods globally.
 
4. The event also included an introduction by CLE delegation members, where representatives from various Indian leather companies introduced their products and services.
