The Wildlife Crime Control Bureau has notified that carriage of Red Sanders (Pterocarpus santalinus) a species of timber found in India falls under the category of Endangered Species of Flora & Fauna and its export, unless procured from legal sources, is banned under the Foreign Trade Policy of Government of India. Export or carriage of the wood in any shape or form (logs, planks, beads, powder etc) either through postal parcel, personal baggage by air/sea passengers, or through any other mode is a legal offence under the Foreign Trade Policy of the Government of India.
