Launch of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Facilitation Cell at the Embassy of India, Tokyo

Ambassador of India to Japan, H.E. Mr Sibi George and President of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), H.E. Mr Kazushige Nobutani launched the Small & Medium Enterprises (SME) Facilitation Cell at the Embassy of India, Tokyo. Ms. Manmeet Nanda, MD & CEO of Invest India; and Mr Shailesh Pathak, Secretary General, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) also joined the launch virtually.

Ambassador Sibi George, in his opening remarks, highlighted the importance of Japanese SMEs in enhancing Japanese investments in India. He mentioned that SME Facilitation Cell will be the first stop to provide assistance to Japanese SMEs interested in establishing their businesses and investing in the diverse, rapidly growing Indian market, in partnership with business facilitation agencies in India and Japan. The Cell will also provide insights about market trends, regulatory guidelines, and potential business partnerships.  He also highlighted that with India being one of the world's fastest-growing economies, offering a plethora of opportunities in the domains of technology, manufacturing, healthcare, and services, consistently improving its business environment with progressive policy reforms, and increased ease of doing business and improved infrastructure, Japanese SMEs can immensely benefit from the cost-effective labour, vast market access, and strategic geographic location that India offers.

President of JETRO stated that JETRO is working on enhancing the presence of Japanese companies in India and will work together with the Embassy for the success of this Cell in its efforts to facilitate entry of Japanese SMEs into India.

MD & CEO of Invest India and Secretary General of FICCI also expressed happiness over the launch of SME Cell in the Embassy and assured to provide all support to Japanese SMEs for their businesses and investment in India.
