VISIT OF THE HON’BLE SPEAKER OF ODISHA TO JAPAN

  Surama Padhy, Hon'ble Speaker, Shri Bipina Bihari Padhy, spouse of Hon'ble Speaker and Shri Dasharathi Satapathy, OSD-cum-Secretary of Odisha Legislative Assembly visited Japan from 29.10.2024 to 1 Nov 2024, on a pre-conference study tour to Japan and South Korea. During their stay in Tokyo, the Embassy of India organized Odisha Day on 29 October 2024, along side the celebrations of the 9th Ayurveda Day.

2. Ambassador of India to Japan, Shri Sibi George, in his inaugural remarks welcomed the delegation and emphasized upon the benefits of Ayurveda, outlining the contributions of India in this field. The holistic approach of Ayurveda through comprehensive care of body, mind and soul was highlighted to the audience. This was followed by a special address by Smt. Surama Padhy, Hon’ble Speaker, Odisha Legislative Assembly who addressed the audience about Ayurveda, its benefits, and a brief history of Ayurveda and Dhanwantari. This was very well received, especially with the Japanese audience, whose interest in Ayurveda was visible, as they enthusiastically participated in the seminar. The event was attended by over 200 people, with participation of the members of the Indian, and especially Odiya community as well.

3. Apart from this, Odishi dance performance by the local community artists on a song called ‘ki nadare prana sangini’ by Smt Syama Mani Pattnaik, with lyrics by 18th century poet Gopal Krishna Pattnaik was presented. Odishi dance was also performed by two Japanese artists Ms. Haru Yamazaki and Ms. Tomomi Fukui, along with a Sambhalpuri dance performance.

4. The delegation also visited the Consulate of India in Osaka-Kobe.
