ODOP-Related Exhibition

As part of celebrations for September 2024 as the India Month in Japan, an exhibition showcasing One District One Product (ODOP) initiative was inaugurated on September 02, 2024. Nearly 100 ODOP products at the exhibition showcased craftsmanship and entrepreneurial spirit of India's artisans, offering a window into the diverse cultural heritage and promoting these traditional products in Japan.

Several high-level dignitaries from Japanese side also joined for the event and witnessed the ODOP exhibition. These include H.E. Mr. Hanazumi Hideyo, Governor of Niigata Prefecture, H.E. Mr. Watanabe Ryugo, Mayor of Sado City, H.E. Mr. Nakasone Hirofumi, Member of the House of Councillors, H.E. Mr. Sato Nobuaki, Member of the House of Councillors, H.E. Mr. Tsukada Ichiro, Member of the House of Representatives and H.E. Mr. Hosoda Kenichi, Member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Komura Masahiro, Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs etc.

During the visit of high-level delegation from Rajasthan led by Hon’ble Chief Minister (CM) Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma to Tokyo from 10-12 September 2024, a special Rising Rajasthan Roadshow was held on September 11, 2024, at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. As part of the Roadshow event, an ODOP (One District One Product) exhibition was also set up at the venue which was graced by Hon’ble CM. Rajasthan-specific ODOP items were also displayed on the occasion.

Since then, the ODOP exhibition is being utilized in various events to highlight the initiative. During the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) Tourism Expo 2024, the ODOP exhibition traveled to Tokyo Big Sight on September 20, 2024 and was set up as part of the India Pavillion there.

Over the last 2 months, the exhibition is on display in the Embassy premises and forms integral part of the regular events, be it Commerce, cultural, tourism-related etc, which are conducted by Embassy on a frequent basis. Also, several high-level government officials from Japan visiting the Embassy also visit the ODOP exhibition from government, academia etc. These include Mr. Nobuyuki Baba, President of Japan Innovation Party; General Yoshihide Yoshida, Joint Chief of Staff; Mr. Takatoshi Nishiwaki, Governor of Kyoto Prefecture, Mr. Hiroshi Hase, Governor of Ishikawa Prefecture; Speakers of Assembly from various prefectures etc to name a few.

Mission in also in touch with the ODOP team at Invest India and when any queries are sought by Japanese for procuring the ODOP products, the same are routed to the ODOP team.

We shall continue to keep the exhibition on display for larger publicity of the initiative and enhance our outreach in Japan.
