Seminar on "India-Japan Digital Partnership: Focusing on Artificial Intelligence: Focusing on Artificial Intelligence", 23 October 2024

The Embassy of India in Tokyo hosted the event titled ‘India-Japan Digital Partnership: Focusing on Artificial Intelligence’ on 23 October 2024. The event aimed at furthering discussions on bilateral cooperation in the field of digital technologies, with a special emphasis on AI.

2. In his inaugural remarks, H.E. Mr. Sibi George, Ambassador of India to Japan, highlighted the broadening scope of collaboration between India and Japan under the India-Japan Digital Partnership. He emphasized India's initiatives in AI development, referencing the IndiaAI Mission and potential areas for cooperation between the two countries in AI-related fields under their Digital Partnership.

3. Shri Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MEITY), addressed the event virtually, discussing India's approach to #AiforAll that is focused on improving public service delivery and governance, enhancing efficiency and innovation, driving inclusive development and empowering citizens. He also provided details on IndiaAI Mission and spoke about the potential for India-Japan collaboration in this field. Mr. Takayuki Sako, Deputy Director of the Software and Information Service Industry Strategy Office at Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, shared Japan’s policy on AI development.

4. The event also featured presentations from representatives of academia, think tanks and industry bodies. These included Yokohama National University, Japan, Invest India, the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, and Observer Research Foundation, India.
