33rd & 34th Know India Programme for Youths of Indian Origin

Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA), Government of India is organising the 33rd  and 34th  Know India Programmes (KIP) to provide the participants exposure to various facets of the Indian way of life, culture, spirituality, adventure and sports, creativity and composite character of India and interaction with youth from different parts of the country. Altogether 40 participants will be selected from countries all over the world to participate in the programme. Duration of each of these programmes would be 3 weeks.

2.  The Programme is open to youth of Indian origin (excluding non- resident Indians) in the age group of 18-26 years. Minimum qualification required for applying is Graduate or studying for Graduation. The applicants should be able to converse in English and will be required to submit a medical fitness certificate along with their application form.

3.  Embassy of India reimburse 90% (ninety per cent) of the total cost of air ticket (at lowest economy excursion fare) to the participants on successful completion of the programme by them.

4.  The content of the programme may include the following:

a)  Presentations on India, political process, developments in various sectors.
b)  Interactions with faculty and students at a prestigious University/ College/ Institute
c)  Presentation on the industrial development and visits to some Industries/ factories.
d)  Visit to a village to better understand the typical village life.
e)  Exposure to Indian media.
f)  Interaction with NGOs and Organizations dealing with women affairs.
g)  Visit to places of historical importance /monuments.
h)  Taking part in Cultural programmes.
i)  Exposure on yoga.
j)  Call on high dignitaries, which may include President of India, Chief Election Commissioner of India, Comptroller and Auditor General of India, and Ministers in- charge of Overseas Indian Affairs, Youth Affairs and Sports.

The participants will be provided the following hospitality/facilities in India:

i)  Local hospitality e.g. boarding/lodging in State guest houses of budget hotels.
ii)  Internal travel as per the Programme.
iii)  Per diem allowance of Rs.100/- for out-of–pocket expenses.

6.  Those who are interested and eligible may send their duly filled application form to the Embassy of India, Tokyo at fscom@indembassytokyo.gov.in latest by 28th May 2015 for the 33rd  KIP and 17th  July 2015 for the 34th KIP, respectively, which will be forwarded to the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, New Delhi for the final decision on admissibility.
