1.The State of Uttar Pradesh (UP) has embarked on an initiative to create a forum for building a progressive, effective and deliverable mechanism to establish beneficial relations and moving forward to make Uttar Pradesh a more progressive land, which is also a land of opportunities with a support of the Indian diaspora who have successfully established themselves across the globe.

2. The Government of Uttar Pradesh has taken a number of initiatives towards engaging with the UP diaspora and it has already established a full-fledged NRI Department which looks into the issues of the NRIs/ PIOs striving towards building a meaningful relationship with the State. The role of new Department of NRI Affairs is to involve the NRIs and PIOs in the mainstream of the development in the State. A new website www.upnri.com has been launched to keep the diaspora from U.P. abreast of the latest developments taking place in the State.

3. As a major initiative to further the continuing dialogue with the NRIs, the Government of Uttar Pradesh is organising its first “UP PRAVASI DIWAS” on 4th – 6th January 2016 at Hotel ITC Mughal, Agra.  “UP Pravasi Diwas” (UPPD) will be chaired by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Akhilesh Yadav who will be accompanied by other state ministers and top government officials at this event. The Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) are partners in the event, while Ernst and Young are knowledge partners. The UPPD has been planned to be an annual event to be held on the same dates every year.

4. NRIs/ PIOs who hail from U.P. and those who may have an interest in the State can register on the website www.upnri.com. The registration process is online.  Participants are requested to register after logon to www.upnri.com.  The registration fee is USD 100 per delegate (Early Bird Offer) if they register their participation on and before 15th December 2015.  It will be USD 125 per delegate w.e.f 16th December 2015 onwards till the closing of registration process.  Special discount of 25% on registration fee for GPOIO members only.
